General information on ClassiX® and tips for system navigation

All ClassiX® applications are very easy to run. The object-oriented database design causes data mapping in the system, which is perfectly modelled on real business structures.

This enables precise data navigation as your business operations require. Accordingly the menus are process-oriented. Where required, there are also symbols or buttons for faster access. All handy shortcuts, known from Windows are certainly working, too.

'Alt' + letter via keyboard directly navigates to the equivalent menu item (e.g. 'Alt' + S navigates directly to 'System'; 'Tab' moves forward to the next window input field and 'Shift' + 'Tab' backwards etc.).

Please also try right-clicking on an input field, whenever you need a selection. Double-click or drag-and-drop brings the selection back to the input field. In case u prefer using the keyboard instead of the mouse, please use the cursor keys for selection windows marked with arrows.

In case you experience ClassiX® being slower than usually, the reason could be one of the following issues:

  1. You have started a large transaction such as generating a relatively long list. The cursor-symbol will indicate whether this is the case or not.
    open transaction without database access
    reading database access
    writing database access

  2. Other operations running via server are currently straining the network connection strongly.
  3. You didn't confirm an information message or a problem report -which appears for example after an incorrect entry- with 'OK'. This message now blocks the system until confirmed. You can find it in your Windows 'start'-bar.

  4. The system has crashed. You have to restart the system. You might be able to do this via 'Alt'-'Ctrl'-'', but in some cases you will need to use the 'reset' button on your computer.

Double-click list entries and you will see you will directly access business operations behind the data and from here you can go to any further branches. That way you can follow all requests quickly and conveniently.

You can move windows, adjust size or simply keep them as an icon bar for reference at a later time. This list could continue and you will might think of even more to add. Just play around with the system, you won't do any damage! For detailed user information on window navigation see below.

One more thing: when you enter data, please make sure you click 'OK' afterwards. Closing the window without clicking the 'OK'-button, you will risk losing all your entered data.

You can call the help function via F1 as customary. If you have any further questions, please press 'Alt'+'S' and 'V' in the main menu. This will bring you to the  ClassiX® versions info and also display our contact details. Our professional, friendly staff will be happy to help you with qualified advice.

You can close every single ClassiX® window with one of the close-buttons in the icon bar or in the bottom part of the window, as well as with the 'x' in the top right corner or via 'Alt'+'F4'. Sometimes these options are not all available. The 'Exit'-button in the main menu ends the entire ClassiX® application.

User information - Working with windows

General

Calling a menu item or selecting a symbol makes a window appear, in which you can edit your data.

Each single application window has a menu bar and a symbol bar, just like the main window.
You can have multiple windows open, position them on the screen and adjust their size.

You can also use direct access via key combinations within windows to eventually call menu items or buttons. For input fields, make the required entries via keyboard and make your selection in selection fields.

Selection Field Function
extends list of possible selections
fields, that are marked with a dot, allow for one option only (radio button)
square fields that are activated with a cross are usually used whenever there is more than one options allowed for (checkbox)

Moving a window
To move a window, please position the cursor on the head bar and, left-click (keep mouse-button pushed) and move the window (mouse). Position the window as required and let go of the left mouse-button. Now, the window remains in its position.

Adjusting window size
Modifying window size and shape makes it possible for you to view multiple windows at once and to define, how much of the window you want displayed. To adjust window size, position cursor right on a window edge or corner. The cursor will now appear as a double-arrow. Keep left mouse-button pushed and drag the frame in the required direction.

The buttons in the top right corner provide further options:

Button Function
shrinks window down to a button at the task bar top edge; if applied to main window, it will remain in task bar. (minimize)
enlarges window - fits window to entire desktop (maximize)
brings window to previous size; this button will be displayed after maximizing or minimizing
closes window without saving changes; if you want to save changes, press the OK-button or press floppy disk symbol

Tool tips
Tool tips appear, whenever you place the cursor above an element (button, input field, ...).

They inform you about the elements function and handling.

Drag&Drop
Drag&Drop makes it possible to position objects by dragging them with the mouse.
The Drag&Drop function in ClassiX® provides special insert modes:

Cursor Indication Description
Cancel For logical reasons, it is not possible to position the object here
Move The object gets moved
Copy The object gets copied
Move+Sibling An object gets moved and at the same time sorted to a specific position at the destination
Copy+Sibling An object gets copied and at the same time sorted to a specific position at the destination
Multiple Move Multiple objects are moved
Multiple Copy Multiple objects are copied

Scroll bar
Scroll bars appear on the right and bottom edge of a window object, as soon as its content is too big to be displayed completely.

Scroll bars are used with the mouse. Whenever you click on one of the arrows at the end of each bar, the displayed content will move one row up/down/left/right.
Your current position will be shown by a rectangle. This rectangle's size depends on displayed content. If you drag this rectangle to a different position, this display changes accordingly. Clicking on the scroll bar above or below the position rectangle makes the complete window content scroll up/down. It is also possible to navigate with the keys ( ) above the cursor keys.

Context menu
Context menus contain commands, which can apply to the equivalent current selection.
Right-clicking on a specific element calls an existent context menu:

Tree
Enables display of hierarchical structures and relations between objects.

Key navigation:
You can navigate the tree structure via numeric keyboard.
+ Opens marked node
- Closes marked node
* Opens marked node and all sub-nodes
/ Closes marked node and all sub-nodes

Information: To save time when generating a tree, use expansion signs (), even if there is not sub-node, yet. In this case, the expansion sign simply disappears when clicking on it.

List Window

The "table" is the list window core. It lists all according data.

Search/Filter
To make things easier for your computer, the table is still empty after calling the window. To display data, you need to enter a specific match code/number (item number/order number) into the equivalent input field above the table. You might as well just push the entry key to display unfiltered data. [Interaction]

Sorting
Clicking on a column headline you can choose between an increasing or a decreasing ordered column. The arrow next to the column headline makes this clear:
A sorting across several columns can be achieved when clicking on the column headline in combination with .

Adjust column width
Whenever the cursor is right in between 2 column headlines, it appears as a vertical line with two arrows pointing either side. In this position, you can change the column left from the cursor by moving the cursor with pressed left mouse-button left or right.

Double-clicking in this position makes the left column just wide enough to fit all column elements.

Column order
You can adjust column order via column name Drag&Drop.

Selecting
You can select joining or separate groups with / and the left mouse-button. Clicking on an element without a key-combination at first cancels any existing selection. Clicking again selects the element under the cursor.

Inside a list, it is also possible to navigate via arrow keys. The space bar (de-)selects the current list entry.

Interaction
In case the table is (actively) sorted, it is possible to navigate in the first column via alphabetic keys: a series of entered characters will be considered as a text or part of a text and searched for in the column. Double-click list entries and you will see, that you can directly access data behind these business operations and branch out from there. That way you can easily understand any requests. [Editing Window]

Input Window (Editing Window)

Entry and text fields
Whenever the cursor is above a text- or an input field, it appears as a vertical bar with two shorter horizontal bars on either end. A flashing vertical bar inside the field indicates that it is possible to start typing, as well as the current position.

In case there is no vertical bar in the field, it can be activated by simply clicking on it.

Multilinguality:
ClassiX® allows to switch between languages during runtime. The language can be selected by clicking on the button with the equivalent flag. All elements - such as menu headline or buttons - are immediately adjusted to the new language setting.

It is possible to switch between the different languages via PageUp, PageDown keys on the keyboard. Changing the language via keyboard makes it possible to directly enter the alternate text in the equivalent language. The multilinguality symbol () switches to the next language (or ).
