A database can be divided into layers (compare CLASSIX.INI).
The most important application is to separate different client's data.
An object can be in one layer only.
Layers are managed by the Object Manager.
Layers are represented by CXS_LAYER objects which can be obtained via function GetLayers, to visualize information via database layout with InstantView®.
CXS_LAYER refers (via collection domains) to all Domains in this layer.
