Firewall

ClassiX^® communicates with ObjectStore and other ClassiX^® instances via TCP/IP (remote messages).

A Firewall -also the integrated firewall in Windows XP- should be configured as follows:

Client

• The computer has to accept incoming connections in port 51031/TCP. The ObjectStore cache manager accepts this connections.
• For remote messaging, cx_osr.exe accepts connections on any port. This program has to be integrated into the firewall as a "safe program".
• Connections to the ObjectStore server are executed via port 51025. Outgoing connections in port 51025/TCP have to be allowed.

Approach:
The "Windows Firewall" will be called in the system control under WinXP. Then, call the option Exceptions. Program cx_osr will be added by selecting button "Program" and by specifying the path to cx_sor.exe under "Browse". By default, the file is in directory  cxoffice\Bin\4.2. If you have more questions about this, please ask the administrator. Confirm "OK" and the program appears in the list.

 

You can add the port 51031/TCP via button "Port". Simply assign a name, enter the port number, select "TCP" and confirm with "OK". Finally confirm again in window "Windows Firewall" with "OK". Now, the connection to the ObjectStore server will be kept free from problems.

Server

• ObjectStore accepts the connections on port 51025/TCP and establishes connections to port 51031/TCP on the client side.

Approach:
According to the client description above, the port needs to be activated on the server.
